feet, ankles and lower limbs
What is Podiatry?
Podiatry is the specialist healthcare profession focused on the health of your feet, ankles and lower limbs. Podiatrists assess, diagnose and treat a wide range of problems, from common foot pain, corns, calluses and ingrown toenails to more complex issues affecting how you walk and move.
Looking after your feet can have a significant impact on your comfort, mobility and overall quality of life.

When to see a Podiatrist at Optimus
You don't need to wait until a foot problem becomes painful or starts affecting your everyday life. If you've noticed a change, have persistent discomfort, or something doesn't feel quite right, it's worth getting it checked. Equally, if you've been living with a foot problem for months or even years, it's not too late to seek help.
Many conditions can be treated or managed effectively, and a podiatrist can advise you on the best approach for your individual circumstances. An initial assessment with first treatment starts at £60.

How long does a podiatry appointment take?
Our initial appointment will take 45 minutes, they take a little longer as we’ll take the time to understand your concerns, assess your feet and discuss the best treatment options with you. Follow up appointments will typically take 30 minutes.
What can I expect at my first appointment?
Your first appointment is all about understanding your feet, your concerns and how we can help. We’ll discuss your symptoms and medical history, carry out a thorough assessment, including the check of your pulses and sensations, and explain our findings clearly. Where appropriate, we can begin treatment during your first appointment and recommend any further care or advice you may need.
Can podiatry help with foot and heel pain?
Yes. Podiatry can help identify the underlying causes of many types of foot and heel pain. We’ll assess your feet, movement and symptoms to understand what may be contributing to your discomfort, then recommend a treatment plan tailored to you. This may include treatment, exercises, footwear advice, orthotics/insoles or other appropriate interventions.
Is podiatry suitable for children?
Yes. Podiatry can be suitable for children of all ages, particularly when they have concerns with their feet, walking, posture, nails or skin. If you’re worried about your child’s feet or the way they walk or move, we can assess them and provide appropriate advice and treatment.
